Changing lives. Lots of lives…
MEND does that.
mend verb
\'mend\
MEND, because our mission is embedded into our name.
To MEND means to grow back together, to repair, to restore, to make whole. We all have parts of us that need repair, that long to be whole. And we all need healing spaces to do that work. That’s why we’re here.
We believe that growth on the individual and personal level brings about change in families, communities, and to the fabric of the city. We believe that as we grow stronger, more wholehearted, and clear-minded - together, we can change the world.
If there was ever a historical or political moment in my lifetime that calls for every single one of us to show up in our lives with humility and courage, in a collective effort toward justice, this is it.
At MEND, we’re here for it. In the long-term, weekly work we do, we hold space for the struggle and the breakthroughs, for discerning when to resist and when to be resilient, and for permission to rest. And we’re doing the work in our own lives, too.
About MEND Institute
MEND is built with a three-part mission:
in·sti·tute
ˈinstəˌt(y)o͞ot/
Noun: An organization having a particular common factor, especially a scientific, educational, or social one.
At MEND Institute, we see our work as a form of activism and as a vehicle for social change. It's unusual for a social business like us to identify as an Institute, but when we considered the definition, we saw a whole lot of alignment with what we do.
MEND Institute is the umbrella organization for three distinct parts:
MEND Seattle Therapy Services: Providing quality low-cost counseling to the community.
MEND Therapist Community: Providing ongoing support, connection, and referrals to our 75+ alumni.
MEND Institute: Providing clinical training opportunities to graduate level interns and post-graduate externs, fellowship opportunities for more experienced therapists, activism, entrepreneurship, and community engagement, and much more to come.

We are a collective of healers with diverse educational backgrounds and identities committed to an anti-oppressive and liberatory approach to therapy. We emphasize serving the QTBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Community. Visit our About Us page to learn more about who we are or our Getting Started page to contact us.
MEND Therapist Community
Alumni Referral Network
MEND’s Therapist Community includes our 100+ alumni, many of whom have continued on into private practice! Check out the MEND alumni page.
MEND REFERRAL NETWORK
Every year MEND refers hundreds of clients to therapists outside of MEND for a variety of reasons. We have a built-in referral network thanks to our many alumni in private practice. We love that we can simultaneously support the growth of our alumni's private practices, while ensuring our clients get connected to the care they need.
