MEND, because our mission is embedded into our name.

To MEND means to grow back together, to repair, to restore, to make whole. We all have parts of us that need repair, that long to be whole. And we all need healing spaces to do that work. That’s why we’re here.

We believe that growth on the individual and personal level brings about change in families, communities, and to the fabric of the city. We believe that as we grow stronger, more wholehearted, and clear-minded - together, we can change the world.

If there was ever a historical or political moment in my lifetime that calls for every single one of us to show up in our lives with humility and courage, in a collective effort toward justice, this is it.

At MEND, we’re here for it. In the long-term, weekly work we do, we hold space for the struggle and the breakthroughs, for discerning when to resist and when to be resilient, and for permission to rest. And we’re doing the work in our own lives, too.

About MEND Institute

MEND is built with a three-part mission:

Noun: An organization having a particular common factor, especially a scientific, educational, or social one.

At MEND Institute, we see our work as a form of activism and as a vehicle for social change. It's unusual for a social business like us to identify as an Institute, but when we considered the definition, we saw a whole lot of alignment with what we do.

MEND Institute is the umbrella organization for three distinct parts:

MEND Seattle Therapy Services: Providing quality low-cost counseling to cis-women, trans women, non-binary, and gender non-conforming folks in Seattle.

MEND Innovative Therapist Community: Providing ongoing support, connection, and services to our 75+ alumni.

MEND Institute: Providing clinical training opportunities to graduate level interns and post-graduate externs, fellowship opportunities for more experienced therapists, activism, entrepreneurship, and community engagement, and much more to come.

Low Cost Therapy For Women

We’re on a mission to make individual, couples, and group therapy a more inclusive resource in Seattle.

We provide counseling services at low cost for cis-women, trans women, non-binary, and gender non-conforming folks.

Research shows that counseling can lead to increased happiness, productive coping skills, meaningful relationships, and even intergenerational health. Even if the events of your life don’t change, your perspective on them can, as well as your ability to cope, so that together with your counselor you can make your way to a peaceful life, more meaningfully connected to yourself and the ones you love.

At MEND, we offer more than counseling. We offer resolution with your loved ones, emotional health for you and your children, satisfaction in your career, happiness and meaning in your life…and perhaps most importantly, relationship, a haven from loneliness.

MEND Innovative Therapist Community

Alumni Referral Network | Continuing Education | Clinical Supervision | Office Space

MEND’s Innovative Therapist Community is made up of MEND’s 100+ Alumni. We stay with our alumni by creating opportunities for ongoing connection, support, and training. We also contribute to their thriving businesses by providing the clinical supervision they need to complete graduate school and have recently launched the Alumni Referral Network.

Every year MEND refers hundreds of clients to therapists outside of MEND Seattle for a variety of reasons. We have a built-in Referral Network thanks to our 75+ alumni in private practice. We love that we can simultaneously support the growth of our alumni's private practices while ensuring our clients get connected to the care they need.

Coming 2019, MEND will be offering Continuing Education with CEU’s and office space rentals.

Why An Institute

Thank you for your interest joining our team at MEND Institute! In our short history, we have become a coveted clinical training program for master's level students as they complete clinical requirements for graduation, as well as post-graduate clinicians wishing to gain experience, training, and supervision in their work towards state licensure.

At MEND, we value social justice and work to incorporate intersectional feminism into what we do and how we do it. With white women co-founders and a white womxn owner, we are committed to the ongoing work to make MEND Institute an equitable organization for all - our counselors and our patients - particularly queer folks and womxn of color.
